. . . I digress

My morning walk to the Coop.

Well, not exactly morning but when I got up and discovered I had no coffee. It is Sunday, I had a good excuse.
Here are just some random photos of stuff that caught my eye. The views are fairly obvious - I live on Beeston Hill, it’s pretty impressive up here. The toppled and smashed gravestones are a bit disturbing. Queen Victoria stuck up there on that oddly out of proportion monument reminds us that Beeston was once prosperous (has anyone counted how many mayors are buried here?) I love the views down the narrow, tatty back streets, and the wide, straight paths in the park. The churches are beautiful. I couldn’t resist the washing line, though maybe it would have looked better if I’d waited till later when the sun might have lit it up. And that odd advert pasted on the wrecked phone box … wonder what the story is there? My favourite is probably the Lucky Removals van … would you want to hire a firm to shift your valuables based on their good fortune? Hmm, give me efficient, trustworthy and careful any day.

Next time, when I’m a bit braver, I’m going to try to ask people in the streets if they mind me taking their pics … some real rum characters around here.
